The art program at A. E. Phillips provides opportunities for self-expression, creative thinking, and developing higher order thinking skills.

The art teacher focuses on instructing students in the basic elements and principles of design, supervising and assisting students while encouraging creativity and teaching techniques in a variety of mediums.

This year Kindergarten through eighth grade students have studied the elements of art through drawing and painting, while also being introduced to art history and famous artists such as; Vincent Van Gogh, Henry Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Kandinsky. All student artwork will be sent home with them at the end of the school year in a portfolio folder.

Student artwork is also published on Artsonia.com. This is a website for parents and family to view the artwork online, leave comments and order keepsakes featuring the artwork.
